What is Theta (THETA)?

Theta (THETA) is a blockchain- powered network   especially for streaming video. Theta mainnet was launched in March 2019. It works as a decentralized network where users share resources and content peer-to-peer. (  P2P  )

Theta has its own cryptocurrency token, THETA, whose platform performs various functions within the network and can be traded independently.

The developers say the project aims to shake up the video streaming industry in its current form — centralization, poor infrastructure and high costs. This causes end users to often have a bad user experience. Content creators also earn less due to the barriers between them and their end users.

Who is the founder of Theta?

Theta was co-founded by Mitch Liu and Jieyi Long in 2018. Liu has long been involved in the gaming industry. He is the co-founder of Gameview, a mobile social game studio, and Sliver.tv, the first esports DApp platform   built on the Theta protocol.

Long is the second co-founder of Sliver.TV with years of gaming experience.

Theta now has a state-of-the-art team, and the official website includes a list of project mentors, including YouTube co-founder Steve Chen, along with Twitch co-founder Justin Kan.

What makes Theta unique?

Theta's business concept is to decentralize video streaming and optimize it to be cost-effective and fair for industry participants.

The network operates on the blockchain with three basic tokens called Theta (THETA), Theta Fuel (TFUEL) and Gamma powered within it.

Theta's appeal is triple: viewers get better quality streaming services, content creators earn more. And the middleman — the video platform — saves more money on building infrastructure.

Users are motivated both to view network content and to provide physical resources. Because there are prizes that come in the form of THETA tokens.

This platform is open source. And token holders are also given regulatory powers. Mass proof-of-stake (PoS) from the blockchain ecosystem

In addition to streaming, Theta is also available to developers looking to launch. decentralized applications(DApps)

How many THETA coins are in circulation?

Theta involves three tokens: THETA, TFUEL and Gamma. Gamma is for regulatory purposes only, with 5 Gamma tokens per THETA issued at the time of the mainnet launch.

THETA itself had an initial coin offering (  ICO  ) in 2018 during which it was distributed to ERC-20 token buyers   on  Ethereum,  after which all ERC-20 THETA would be converted to the original THETA.

The total supply of THETA is 1 billion (1 billion) tokens, distributed in different proportions to all network participants, as well as the Theta team itself, the Miners Reserve and other Native Reserves.

TFUEL is used to transact in the same way as  Gas  on Ethereum (ETH). The total supply is 5 billion (5,000,000,000) tokens.

How secure is Theta network?

Theta uses a financial incentive program to ensure that users participate in regulatory activities. And hence the network is secured by the users themselves.
