Serum is a decentralized exchange (  DEX  ) and ecosystem that brings high speed and low transaction costs to decentralized finance (  DeFi  ). It is  not licensed and built on the solara blockchain.

Serum was created to eliminate vulnerabilities in the current DeFi space that exist due to imperfect decentralization. It is claimed to be fully decentralized and operates on non-custodial exchanges with support for cross-trading and unaware of the customer (KYC) requirements.

Solana is a web-level blockchain capable of reaching 50,000 transactions per second. This can be done using the verifiable delay function. It's called the SHA 265 hash chain, which allows for optimistic concurrency control.

Serum was developed by Serum Foundation, backed by a group of experts in cryptocurrency, trading and decentralized finance. The project is also supported by a number of companies.

Who is the founder of  Serum?

Serum was founded by Sam Bankman-Fried. He is also the CEO of cryptocurrency derivatives exchange FTX and co-founder of quantitative trading firm Alameda Research  Bankman-Fried. Previously worked as director of development for The Center for Effective Altruism and a merchant on Jane Street.

Bankman-Fried Graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in physics.

Serum offers a decentralized, automated, integer-limited order book that gives merchants full control over each order. The full  integration of Ethereum and Solana makes Serum faster and more efficient while also enabling compatible with token ERC20 , too.

Serum circulating supply  (SRM) is 50,000,000 SRM as of February 2021, with a maximum supply of 50,000,000 SRM.
